How to Assemble a Greek Cheese and Charcuterie Board

Starting with the Base

For an appealing presentation, begin by choosing an elegant porcelain, wooden, or marble platter as your base. The choice of platter adds style to your table and provides a perfect canvas for your culinary masterpiece.

Commence with Chutneys or Jams

Select two to three small bowls and fill them with your favorite chutneys or jams. These will accompany the cheese and charcuterie. It’s best to serve them in separate bowls, allowing your guests to customize their bites to their liking.

Selecting the Cheeses

Now, the exciting part – choosing your cheeses! The key is to offer a variety of flavors and textures. Consider options like spicy kefalotyri, creamy goat cheese, smoky continental semi-hard cheese, and even strong-flavored selections like blue cheese or Gorgonzola. Place the cheeses in various spots on the platter, cutting some into evenly sized triangles, sticks, or cubes, while leaving soft cheeses uncut.

Provide special knives next to them so guests can slice as they please. You can replace Greek cheeses with any other cheese you prefer.

Add Cold Cuts

Thinly sliced salami, prosciutto arranged in rose shapes, ham, mortadella, chorizo, and other cold cuts make for a mouthwatering addition. Their flavors complement the cheeses and create a satisfying balance.

Incorporate Nuts and Dried Fruits

Enhance your platter with a selection of nuts like almonds, walnuts, cashews, and hazelnuts. Dried fruits such as raisins, apricots, and plums add a sweet and flavorful contrast to the cheeses and cold cuts.

Offer a Variety of Breads or Crackers

To complete the experience, include an array of bread options. Alongside the cheeses and meats, provide crackers, breadsticks, and bread rolls, cut into bite-sized pieces. Add savory biscuits in different sizes, shapes, and flavors to cater to various tastes.

Finish with Various Toppings and Fruits

Give your platter a vibrant finishing touch by adding garnishes. Fresh herbs and seasonal vegetables, like asparagus or sautéed mushrooms, provide color and variety. For a pop of sweetness, include fruits with bold flavors, such as strawberries, blueberries, grapes, and melon balls.

Serving Your Cheese and Charcuterie Platter

When it’s time to serve, gather your friends around the table and let them dive into this delightful spread. Encourage your guests to mix and match the cheeses, cold cuts, and accompaniments to create their own unique flavor combinations. This interactive approach makes for a memorable and enjoyable dining experience.

Whether it’s a holiday celebration or a casual get-together, your cheese and charcuterie platter will be the highlight of the evening.

In conclusion, a cheese and charcuterie platter is a versatile and delightful addition to any gathering. With an assortment of flavors and textures, it caters to a variety of palates. • Always place the cheeses on a porcelain or wooden platter or a marble platter to give more style to your table.

    Start with chutneys or jams

    • Choose 2 - 3 small bowls and fill them with your favourite chutney or jam that you have at home. The jam and chutney are always served in the bowls and not on top of the cheese so that our guests can enjoy and taste as they wish.

    Choose the cheeses

    • You can include a variety of flavours and textures such as a spicy kefalotyri cheese along with Cretan gruyere, a Ladotiri from Mytilene oil, a smoky continental semi hard cheese along with soft cheeses such as a goat cheese. You can also add creamy cheeses such as Domokos katiki, tsalafouti and galotyri. If these types of cheese are hard to find you can choose your favorites, but you get the point.
    • Cut your cheeses into evenly sized triangles, sticks or cubes and place them in various places on the platter. We can also leave the soft cheeses uncut and use special knives, which we have next to them so that our guests can cut as and when they want.
